{"id":703,"date":"2026-03-03T18:18:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T17:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/?p=703"},"modified":"2026-03-03T18:18:06","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T17:18:06","slug":"umbral-de-grasa-pierde-peso-que-importa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2026\/03\/03\/umbral-de-grasa-pierde-peso-que-importa\/","title":{"rendered":"El umbral de grasa: por qu\u00e9 no pierdes el peso que importa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Aunque parezca incre\u00edble con toda la informaci\u00f3n que tenemos disponible hoy en d\u00eda, hasta la fecha sigue siendo com\u00fan para muchos dejarse llevar por dietas que se ponen de moda (sin investigarlas a fondo) y por <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/11\/05\/mejorar-salud-metabolica-sin-medicamentos\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"434\">soluciones r\u00e1pidas<\/a> que prometen resultados inmediatos. Pero la verdad es que siempre han existido enfoques m\u00e1s efectivos para perder peso que tiene en cuenta c\u00f3mo funciona nuestro metabolismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abordemos el concepto del <strong>umbral de grasa<\/strong>, un tema esencial para comprender c\u00f3mo nuestro cuerpo almacena la grasa y por qu\u00e9 las estrategias gen\u00e9ricas y tradicionales para bajar de peso no son la soluci\u00f3n para la mayor\u00eda, y com\u00fanmente resultan en rebote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El problema con el IMC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante d\u00e9cadas, el enfoque tradicional de cuidado de la salud ha confiado en el <strong>\u00cdndice de Masa Corporal<\/strong> (IMC) para determinar si tenemos un peso saludable. El IMC es la relaci\u00f3n entre la altura y el peso. Pero seamos sinceros: desde el punto de vista de la atenci\u00f3n personalizada, el IMC es un instrumento poco preciso que no tiene en cuenta la masa muscular, la densidad \u00f3sea ni la composici\u00f3n corporal espec\u00edfica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De modo que no es de extra\u00f1ar que millones de personas en todo el mundo sean clasificadas err\u00f3neamente como con bajo peso, con sobrepeso o inclusive con <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mihUX9MQ4ko?si=8GFEwxS0Gt1KBD8J\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mihUX9MQ4ko?si=8GFEwxS0Gt1KBD8J\">obesidad<\/a> cuando, en realidad, pueden contar con un peso perfectamente normal para sus circunstancias espec\u00edficas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero tambi\u00e9n sucede lo contrario: personas que son consideradas con bajo riesgo de desarrollar enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas por su IMC, cuando su umbral de grasa es menor, y ya cuentan con da\u00f1o metab\u00f3lico considerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La ciencia detr\u00e1s del umbral de grasa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Las investigaciones (y la pr\u00e1ctica de la atenci\u00f3n de salud nutricional personalizada) han demostrado que cada persona tiene un umbral de grasa \u00fanico: el punto en el que la grasa subcut\u00e1nea (la capa de grasa justo debajo de la piel) se vuelve <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/iG-XqgiK-TI?si=FjNcOkKOBlIPwbGE\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/iG-XqgiK-TI?si=FjNcOkKOBlIPwbGE\">resistente a la insulin<\/a>a y comienza a provocar problemas metab\u00f3licos e inflamatorios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Antes de llegar a este umbral, una persona puede considerarse con sobrepeso, pero no tener en realidad problemas metab\u00f3licos. De aqu\u00ed la idea de que pueden existir \u00abgordit@s\u00bb saludables. Y este umbral est\u00e1 influenciado por la gen\u00e9tica, las hormonas sexuales e incluso factores de desarrollo intrauterino, es decir promovidos desde antes de nacer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los detalles metab\u00f3licos sobre la diferencia entre la grasa corporal saludable y la no saludable son muy interesantes, pero los dejaremos para otro art\u00edculo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Las consecuencias de superar el umbral de grasa<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando se supera el umbral de grasa personal, el cuerpo comienza a almacenar grasa en zonas ect\u00f3picas (como el h\u00edgado, el p\u00e1ncreas o los ri\u00f1ones) en lugar de en el tejido subcut\u00e1neo, que evolucion\u00f3 como un almac\u00e9n saludable de grasa a utilizar en tiempos de escasez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y es esa acumulaci\u00f3n no saludable de grasa com\u00fanmente provoca resistencia a la insulina, inflamaci\u00f3n y una serie de problemas metab\u00f3licos que aumentan el riesgo de enfermedades cr\u00f3nicas como la <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/07\/29\/la-diabetes-tipo-2-no-es-lo-que-crees\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"327\">diabetes tipo 2<\/a>, las <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/07\/22\/no-se-trata-solo-del-colesterol-alto\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"317\">enfermedades cardiovasculares<\/a> e incluso ciertos tipos de <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2025\/06\/16\/dieta_keto_contra_cancer_de_colon\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"533\">c\u00e1ncer<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exacto, inclusive c\u00e1ncer, aunque hasta la fecha se siga creyendo que esta es una enfermedad principalmente gen\u00e9tica (lo que ya desmitificamos en <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2025\/02\/05\/el-cancer-depende-del-metabolismo\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"484\">otro art\u00edculo de este blog<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aplicando el umbral de grasa a la p\u00e9rdida de peso<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 significa esto para las estrategias de p\u00e9rdida de peso? Que es hora de dejar atr\u00e1s el enfoque universal y las dietas de moda, y centrarnos en comprender tu umbral de grasa individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aqu\u00ed algunas conclusiones clave:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>No te centres solo en perder peso, sino en perder grasa corporal<\/strong>. Esto significa prestar atenci\u00f3n a tu composici\u00f3n corporal, no solo al peso que mide una b\u00e1scula que no calcula porcentajes de grasa y m\u00fasculo. Adem\u00e1s, hay que tomar en cuenta tambi\u00e9n tu relaci\u00f3n cintura-cadera.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Come seg\u00fan tu tipo de cuerpo, no seg\u00fan una dieta gen\u00e9rica<\/strong>. Si eres, por ejemplo, una persona delgada pero con grasa visceral excesiva, es posible que debas ajustar tus proporciones de macronutrientes y la frecuencia de las comidas para favorecer un almacenamiento saludable de grasa y la reducci\u00f3n de la grasa no saludable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mu\u00e9vete, pero escucha a tu cuerpo<\/strong>.
