Pero \u00bfcu\u00e1ntos entendemos realmente por qu\u00e9? Y lo que es m\u00e1s \u00bfqu\u00e9 tan importante? Lo cierto es que nuestros patrones de sue\u00f1o no se limitan a sentir que descansamos despu\u00e9s de haber dormido. Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n \u00edntimamente relacionados tambi\u00e9n con nuestro bienestar mental y, de hecho, desempe\u00f1an un papel importante en problemas como la ansiedad, la depresi\u00f3n e incluso la psicosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigaciones recientes est\u00e1n corroborando y permiti\u00e9ndonos entender mejor esta conexi\u00f3n, revelando que las alteraciones en nuestros ciclos naturales de sue\u00f1o-vigilia (lo que t\u00e9cnicamente se conoce como ritmo circadiano) pueden ser un factor clave en diversos problemas de salud mental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El v\u00ednculo entre el sue\u00f1o y la salud mental: m\u00e1s complejo de lo que crees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante a\u00f1os, el enfoque m\u00e9dico ha considerado la salud mental como un problema puramente psicol\u00f3gico; es decir, separado del cuerpo f\u00edsico. Sin embargo, investigaciones recientes, que utilizan herramientas como la actigraf\u00eda (que mide los patrones de sue\u00f1o y vigilia), demuestran una fuerte conexi\u00f3n biol\u00f3gica mente-cuerpo. Las personas con enfermedades como <a href=\"https:\/\/cuidatehoy.com\/acaba-con-la-depresion-entendiendo-esto\/\">depresi\u00f3n<\/a>, trastorno bipolar, ansiedad y psicosis suelen presentar patrones de sue\u00f1o distintivos. Estos suelen incluir una reducci\u00f3n del tiempo total de sue\u00f1o, dificultad para conciliar el sue\u00f1o y horarios de sue\u00f1o irregulares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pi\u00e9nsalo: nuestro cuerpo funciona a un ritmo natural de 24 horas, influenciado por la luz y la oscuridad. As\u00ed evolucion\u00f3 y ha funcionado el ser humano por millones de a\u00f1os. De modo que cuando este ritmo se altera, puede alterar la qu\u00edmica cerebral, lo que afecta la regulaci\u00f3n del estado de \u00e1nimo y la <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/12\/09\/5-alimentos-para-la-salud-del-cerebro\/\">funci\u00f3n cognitiva<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Por ejemplo, se sabe que las personas con trastorno bipolar suelen mostrar una actividad diurna reducida y un comportamiento motor irregular, estrechamente relacionados con sus patrones de sue\u00f1o y vigilia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M\u00e1s all\u00e1 del cansancio: el papel del ritmo circadiano<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>En este sentido, un estudio reciente publicado en el <em>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences<\/em>, destaca que las variaciones en el horario de sue\u00f1o, como la tendencia a acostarse y despertarse m\u00e1s tarde de lo habitual, son incre\u00edblemente significativas. Estos patrones suelen estar vinculados a factores gen\u00e9ticos y se han asociado con problemas mentales como la paranoia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, el estudio revela que las irregularidades en la forma en que nuestro cuerpo reacciona a la luz y en c\u00f3mo regulamos nuestros ciclos de sue\u00f1o y vigilia pueden influir significativamente en nuestra salud mental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prevenir el da\u00f1o mental del mal sue\u00f1o<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Si bien la evidencia cient\u00edfica en este tema es compleja y apenas comienza a acumularse, existen medidas pr\u00e1cticas que puedes tomar para mejorar tu sue\u00f1o y, en consecuencia, tu bienestar mental:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Establece un horario de sue\u00f1o regular:<\/strong> Intenta acostarte y despertarte aproximadamente a la misma hora todos los d\u00edas, incluso los fines de semana.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Crea una rutina relajante para la hora de dormir:<\/strong> Rel\u00e1jate con un ba\u00f1o caliente, leyendo o haciendo estiramientos suaves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimiza tu entorno de sue\u00f1o:<\/strong> Aseg\u00farate de que tu cuarto sea lo m\u00e1s oscuro posible, tranquilo y fresco.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tomar el control de tu higiene del sue\u00f1o<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahora sabemos que no dormir bien no solamente afecta el metabolismo y <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/06\/21\/no-dormir-bien-promueve-la-resistencia-a-la-insulina\/\">promueve la resistencia a la insulina<\/a>.
