{"id":317,"date":"2024-07-22T03:30:34","date_gmt":"2024-07-22T01:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/?p=317"},"modified":"2024-07-22T03:34:32","modified_gmt":"2024-07-22T01:34:32","slug":"no-se-trata-solo-del-colesterol-alto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/07\/22\/no-se-trata-solo-del-colesterol-alto\/","title":{"rendered":"No se trata s\u00f3lo del colesterol alto"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cuando hablamos de los niveles de colesterol, la mayor\u00eda de los profesionales de la salud y sus pacientes se centran en los n\u00fameros de colesterol total: qu\u00e9 tan altos o bajos son, relacionando esos niveles con su salud y riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero \u00bfy si te dijera que no es s\u00f3lo el n\u00famero lo que importa, sino m\u00e1s bien los factores subyacentes que contribuyen a esos n\u00fameros y que interact\u00faan con estos?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En este post abordaremos el tema del famoso colesterol LDL o LDL-c (el conocido como \u00abcolesterol malo\u00bb), y que es lo que com\u00fanmente se pasa por alto. Adem\u00e1s exploraremos por qu\u00e9 los niveles altos pueden ser particularmente problem\u00e1ticos cuando ignoramos lo que se conoce como el insulto o la lesi\u00f3n inicial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No es colesterol, sino colesteroles<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ver\u00e1s, el colesterol LDL (lipoprote\u00edna de baja densidad) es el que se considera \u00abmalo\u00bb porque puede acumularse en nuestras arterias, aumentando el riesgo de enfermedad card\u00edaca e infartos. Pero recordemos que tambi\u00e9n existe el colesterol HDL, el que se conoce como \u00abbueno\u00bb, as\u00ed como el colesterol total, que suma ambos colesteroles m\u00e1s el colesterol remanente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esto es precisamente lo que se analiza con los <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/02\/03\/mas-que-glucosa-y-colesterol-en-tus-analisis-de-sangre\/\">estudios sangu\u00edneos<\/a> de l\u00edpidos. De modo que, para empezar, lo que importa en realidad no es el n\u00famero de colesterol total, sino cuanto de ese colesterol es \u00abbueno\u00bb y cu\u00e1nto es \u00abmalo\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Y \u00bfqu\u00e9 causa la famosa acumulaci\u00f3n de LDL-c? \u00bfEs s\u00f3lo el LDL en s\u00ed o hay otros factores en juego?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El insulto inicial: lo que realmente est\u00e1 pasando<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>La respuesta est\u00e1 en el insulto inicial, t\u00e9rmino utilizado para describir el da\u00f1o que se produce cuando las paredes arteriales se ven comprometidas, es decir en riesgo. Esto puede suceder, por ejemplo, debido a elecciones de alimentaci\u00f3n, como una dieta abundante en <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/8oxERULnI28?si=h2H5-hI29_MdtK35\">aceites de semillas<\/a> poliinsaturados de aceites vegetales (aceite de soya, aceite de canola, de ma\u00edz y de semilla de algod\u00f3n) y az\u00facares, que pueden provocar la modificaci\u00f3n o la oxidaci\u00f3n del colesterol LDL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando esto sucede, el LDL queda atrapado en nuestras arterias, donde puede causar inflamaci\u00f3n y provocar la formaci\u00f3n de placa (<a href=\"https:\/\/cuidatehoy.com\/aterosclerosis-inflamacion-antes-que-grasa-en-las-arterias\/\">aterosclerosis<\/a>), un precursor de las enfermedades card\u00edacas. Pero aqu\u00ed est\u00e1 la cuesti\u00f3n: este proceso no ocurre de la noche a la ma\u00f1ana. Normalmente se necesitan a\u00f1os, incluso d\u00e9cadas, de exposici\u00f3n acumulativa a estos factores para que se manifieste en da\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Otro factor que promueve el da\u00f1o de la aterosclerosis es la <a href=\"https:\/\/cuidatehoy.com\/cuidado-con-la-hipertension\/\">hipertensi\u00f3n<\/a>. Y la principal promotora de la hipertensi\u00f3n es la <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/03\/15\/remision-de-la-diabetes-desafiando-la-narrativa-de-progresiva\/\">resistencia a la insulina<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El poder de los cambios en el estilo de vida<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Entonces, \u00bfqu\u00e9 podemos hacer para prevenir o revertir este da\u00f1o? La respuesta est\u00e1 en hacer cambios en el estilo de vida que aborden el insulto inicial. Y no es tan complicado como podr\u00edas pensar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para empezar, una dieta rica en alimentos naturales como carnes, <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonrazo.com\/nutricion\/2024\/02\/25\/comer-frutas-y-verduras-en-realidad-saludable\/\">verduras y frutas<\/a>, puede ayudar a reducir la inflamaci\u00f3n y promover la salud en general.
